This Privacy Policy explains what information HasIt (“HasIt,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you use the HasIt website and app (the “Service”), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. It should be read alongside our Terms of Service.
Like most web apps, we and our hosting/infrastructure providers automatically collect some technical data when you use the Service, such as device and browser type, IP address, and basic usage/log data (e.g., pages visited, actions taken), primarily for security, debugging, and reliability purposes.
HasIt does not collect GPS coordinates, precise geolocation, or your home address. The optional “general area” field in your profile is self-reported text, not derived from device location, and is not used for tracking.
We use the information above to:
We do not use your Stuff, item, or loan data to build public profiles visible to non-friends, and we do not sell your personal information.
Items you mark as shareable, along with related details (photos, condition, terms, and loan status), are visible to your mutual Bench connections. This is a hard visibility boundary: users who are not a mutual, accepted connection cannot see your Stuff. Items marked private are visible only to you.
If you request or accept a loan or giveaway, the other user can see relevant details of that exchange, including your name, profile photo, messages related to the request, and condition photos from pickup and return.
We use third-party providers to operate the Service, including:
These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own independent purposes beyond providing their service to us, except as described in Section 4 for AI processing.
We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of HasIt, our users, or others.
If HasIt is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this Policy or a successor policy.
When you use the Project Planner, your project description (and relevant Stuff/Bench data used to cross-reference tools and materials) is sent to Anthropic’s Claude API to generate a plan. When you use Photo Intake, your submitted photo is sent to Claude and/or OpenAI to identify items and draft entries.
This means content you submit to these features is processed by a third-party AI provider for the purpose of generating your results. We do not direct these providers to use your content to train their general-purpose models, but you should review the linked provider terms for their current data-handling commitments, since these can change. Avoid submitting photos or descriptions containing sensitive personal information about yourself or others beyond what’s needed to identify tools or plan a project.
Generated project plans are saved to your account so you can revisit or delete them. Photo Intake drafts are not saved to your Stuff until you review and confirm each item.
Loan history, including condition photos, is retained indefinitely by default so it remains available as a shared reference between the parties to a loan. Other account and Stuff data is retained for as long as your account is active.
You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at support@hasit.dev. Some information may be retained after deletion where necessary for legal, security, or dispute-related purposes, or where it exists in another user’s loan history (e.g., a past borrow record involving you) since deleting your account does not erase the other party’s copy of that transaction record.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under applicable law, such as the right to know what personal information we hold about you or to request its deletion. Contact us at support@hasit.dev to make a request.
HasIt is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users between 13 and 17 may only use the Service with the involvement and permission of a parent or legal guardian, consistent with our Terms of Service. If we learn we’ve collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us information, contact us at support@hasit.dev.
We rely on our infrastructure providers’ security measures (including Supabase’s database and storage security) and follow reasonable practices to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
We use essential cookies or similar technologies (such as those used by Supabase Auth) to keep you signed in and to secure your session. We may also use basic, privacy-respecting analytics to understand how the Service is used and to fix problems. We do not currently use third-party advertising trackers.
HasIt is based in Texas, USA, and our service providers may process data in the United States or other countries. By using the Service, you understand your information may be processed outside your home country.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, particularly as HasIt is in beta and features are still evolving. If we make material changes, we’ll take reasonable steps to notify you, such as an in-app notice. The “Last Updated” date at the top reflects the most recent version.
If you choose to add a phone number and opt in via the consent checkbox in your profile settings, HasIt uses your phone number to operate an optional feature that lets you text a dedicated HasIt number to record a borrow, and to send you related texts (borrow confirmations, clarification requests, requests to confirm a new item a friend added on your behalf, and one-time verification codes to help secure your account). This opt-in is never pre-selected, and you may opt out at any time by replying STOP or removing your phone number in your profile settings; you can reply HELP for help.
No mobile information, including phone numbers or text-messaging originator opt-in data and consent, is shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your phone number is used only to operate this feature (including via our SMS delivery provider, Twilio, acting solely on our behalf to send and receive these texts) and is shared with your Bench connections in the same way your other profile information is (see Section 3.1), since a borrow you text in is visible to the friend it involves just like one you record in-app.
We keep a record of when you opted in (and the texts sent and received through this feature) for support, troubleshooting, and compliance purposes, consistent with Section 5 (Data Retention).
